Haverhill is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, situated on the Merrimack River. The area was initially called “Pentucket” which means “land of the winding river.” Originally having its roots in agriculture, by the 18th century new industries had developed, such as shipping, shipyards and tanning. 5. Zion Bible College: The undergraduate Bible College was originally situated in Barrington, Rhode Island, but was relocated to Haverhill, Massachusetts.
