5 Things You Must do in Hackensack
Although not as well known as its neighbor New York City, Hackensack is close enough to New York that one can see the big city’s skyline from some locations. Like New York, Hackensack has its share of interesting things to do and see. Here are a few of these things. 1. Tour the New Jersey Naval Museum-The museum’s most popular exhibit is the USS Ling, a BALAO class submarine which is open for guests to tour. Other vessels on display include a Patrol Boat Riverine, a German Seahund, and a SEAL delivery vehicle. 2. Hackensack River County Park-At this park you can fish from one of the piers, bird watch from the observation decks or just take a leisurely stroll along one of the hiking trails. 3. See the First Dutch Reformed Church- Perhaps more interesting than the church itself, which was built in 1696, is its neighboring cemetery in which a couple of politicians were buried during the 19th century. 4. Splurge at The Shops at Riverside- You are sure to find something of interest at this upscale shopping center which includes several well-known restaurants, boutiques and department stores. 5. Visit the Bergen County Courthouse- Listed on the National Historic Landmark register, the stained glass and marble rotunda of this courthouse was used in the filming of both the movies Hackers and Before and After. |
