South Dallas is the area bounded by Downtown Dallas to the north, Trinity River to the west and south, and the pleasant Grove area to the east. It is a home to the State Fair of Texas and the famous Cotton Bowl and is generally considered to be the area in which an overwhelming majority of African-American people live.

1. Visit Cedars: The Cedars is a district in south Dallas situated adjacent to and south of downtown, east of Lamar Street, north of Corinth Street and west of Harwood Street. It is one of the premier destinations in Dallas, with stately Victorian homes owned by lawyers, politicians and businessmen. It is also the home of the Dallas ‘Jewish’ community.

2. Visit Exposition Park: This Park is located to the east of Deep Ellum and north-west of Fair Park, centered along Exposition Avenue. It is home to parlors, eclectic bars and small entertainment venues.

3. Visit Dallas Fair Park: This 277 acre recreational and educational complex is a national historic landmark and is home of the largest Ferris wheel in the USA, a lagoon, nine museums and six performance facilities. The Park has the distinction of being recognized for its significant art deco architecture.

4. Visit Cedars Station: This station is located at Belleview and Wall streets in the Cedars neighborhood of south Dallas. Opened in June 1996, this station on the Red and Blue lines serves as an old city park, with connecting services to Fair Park.
