5 things you must do in San Juan

San Juan Car Rental

Just a short hop by plane from the East Coast, San Juan is a foreign city within American territory.  Visitors can enjoy a taste of Latin culture and history without the stress of foreign travel.

1. El Yunque Rainforest.   El Yunque Rain Forest is a 28,000 square-foot collection of over 240 species of trees, plants and flowers.  A walking tour will lead to great swimming and perhaps a view of the rare coqui frog—whose song can be heard throughout the forest.

2.  Flamenco Beach.    Flamenco Beach is a three mile strip on Culebra Island. Guests love the soft, white sand and the clear, blue water. Visitors are also likely to see old US Army from military exercises that were conducted through 1975. Picnic tables and restrooms are available.

3.  Caguana Indian Ceremonial Park.    Caguana Indian Ceremonial Park  is 13 acres originally used by the Taino Indians for worship and recreation.  The park includes a small museum with many artifacts and rock formations. There is also a botanical garden on the grounds to enjoy.

4. Casa Blanca.   Casa Blanca was built by the family of explorer Juan Ponce de Leon.  Today it is a museum focusing on Puerto Rican life in the 16th to 18th centuries.

5. Ocean PArk Beach.    Ocean Park Beach is between the Condado and Isla Verde districts.  The area is visited by locals and American tourists frequently and is considered to be an upscale, yet lively place.  Windsurfing is a popular activity at Ocean Park, in addition to swimming and other sports.
