5 Things to do in Orange County
The now infamous Orange County, or OC, is still one of the hippest and most chic ways to spend a day or two in California.
If you have your eye on a decadent shopping spree, hit Fashion Island for a more sophisticated look, or The Block for a more fun, younger image.
Both places are equally as stylish, but The Block rounds out as an entertainment center, not just a shopping district. It has over one hundred shops and restaurants, with nightclubs, a skateboard park and gaming for the kids. Fashion Island, however, is purely for the big spender in all of us.
Fashion Island is at 401 Newport Center Drive and The Block is at 20 City Boulevard West.
For the obliging tourist attractions, Balboa Island, a man made island and Balboa Pier are a great way to watch the sun go down. The atmosphere is light, the sugar- laden calories free flowing and the kids all have smiles on their faces.
For well organized attractions, whale watching off Newport Landing is a fresh way to enjoy the Newport coastline. If you have an unlucky day and don’t spot any whales, you generally get a refund. Click here for more information.
And finally, what you may have come here for, the infiltration of Disney everywhere in Orange County.
Only fifteen minutes away from Disneyland itself, Orange County is riddled with Disney style adventures for your family to enjoy, without breaking the bank.
To start off with, there’s Disneyland Resort, Disney's California Adventure, and then Downtown Disney. All three a peaceful break from the actual theme park.
Disneyland Resort is the gateway to Disneyland theme park itself, but it is also a major tourist draw card for those who can’t brave the main attraction. Other than amusement rides, you can also dine, shop and tour your children through museums and ancient ruins.
Get between all of these fantastic sights, book a cheap Orange County hire car and get moving. Orange County is a quick trip from Los Angeles and won't disappoint!
California, here we come!
