Known most commonly known as "ATL", Atlanta is a buzzing city with more to do than a traveler could be accomplished in a year. Recreation parks, shopping, theme parks, museums, gardens, zoos, you could run out of breath just listing it all...
Atlanta is home of some of the most phenomenal shopping centers you can spend your money at. Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza are well known for their vast variety of stores. You can walk around for hours in these places and not see the same store twice, and you can find them at 3393 Peachtree Rd and 3500 Peachtree Rd respectively.
Hey fellas, shopping not your thing? Jump in the car and head out for some real guy time. Catch an Atlanta Braves game at Turner Field (above) or scoot over to Six Flags over Georgia for the ultimate day of theme park fun. The Atlanta Botanical Garden has the biggest public display of carnivorous plants in the entire world, so that’ll will keep you entertained if you like to muse about giant plants that eat humans. But really, who doesn’t?
If you like car racing, speed over (well don't speed over, just drive over) to the Atlanta Motor Speedway (left) in Hampton where you can check out stock cars, drag racing, classics, even a dirt track. You can always grab a burger at the speedway if you're hungry, so you don't have to get back on the highway so soon.
But if you're hungry for something more traditional a bit later, drive to The Line at 285 Sports Bar. With a menu “worthy of the best appetites” and 120 televisions, no matter who you are or where you're from, if sport is playing somewhere, you can enjoy your food and watch it here. The Line at 285 Sports Bar is located at 5525 Interstate North Parkway.
Kids asleep? Got the babysitter? Got some energy? Then you're ready for the kind of nightlife that Atlanta has to offer. Some of the hottest clubs in the country reside in Atlanta’s downtown area. MJQ Concourse is a popular one with various crowds, catering to many scenes through different music nights and an atmosphere that works for many. It’s at 736 Ponce De Leon Ave NE. Another mention is Lava/ Cosmopolitan nightclub, which is a little more sophisticated in nature. It has great atmosphere, even better drinks and some excellent DJ’s visiting regularly. It’s at 45 13th Street.
Want to hear some fresh live bands? Blind Willie's at 828 North Highland Avenue was recently awarded “Best Blues Club” by The Blues Foundation and can give you the most amazing jazz blast like no other venue in town. Also scattered about the whole city you can find great Rock 'n' Roll bars like Smithe's Olde Bar. It has been a favorite of ‘real music lovers’ for a long time now. If you’re not sure or like to keep things spontaneous, most clubs and a good variety of nightlife can be found on Peachtree Street in general.
