Top Attractions in Seward

4th of July Mount Marathon Race is topped off with a night of fireworks at the Seward waterfront and is a one of a kind event. The world famous event begins yearly at midnight and celebrates three individual races. Participants scurry to the top of the 3,022 high Mount Marathon and race back to the start. A greased pole competition, two-on-two basketball, mini races for the very young, and an egg and spoon competition are just a sample of the fun featured near Adams Street every Fourth of July weekend.

Polar Bear Plunge attracts the wild and bold to play dress up in imaginative costumes and plunge into the icy harbor at Resurrection Bay. Held annually following its first celebration in 1986, the event helps to raise awareness and support for the American Cancer Society. Bachelor/bachelorette auctions, lip syncing contests, pub events, turkey bowling, and waiter/waitress contests add up the fun yearly on the third weekend of January.
