Tourists can learn about the history of the kazoo, ever since its creation in 1840 through the present day, as well as taking a tour around the factory in order to see the production mechanisms.

Hunting Island State Park is a large secluded barrier island with a historical 1859 lighthouse as its centerpiece. The activities here are for children and adults alike. There is access to the beach, with a very good board walk through the marsh. Moreover, for people keen on water sports, there is also the possibility of going fishing or boating. The Park is a great choice if you want to find some peace and quiet. There are many paths through the forest, or cycling tracks. The facilities include barbecue, restrooms, bars and coffee houses.

Old Sheldon Church Ruins are located just a few km away from Beaufort, in a beautiful wild corner of the Lowcountry. The surroundings are very beautiful, with the brick and tabby remains of a former church nestled among the wonderful oaks and moss which drape the property. The best time to visit the site is in the morning hours, especially if there is dew or fog in the morning.
