Claremore is a relatively small city from Oklahoma, with almost 19.000 residents living on an area of 12 squared miles. Located in Rogers County, as its county seat, Claremore was named in 1802 by the Osage Indians who lived in this area. They gave the area this name from their chief - Gra-moi. In the area, French men used to trade different types of merchandise, so they called the city Clairmont - mountain with a clear view. The name eventually changed in 1882 to the final form of Claremore that it bears today. Several notable people were residents of Claremore and among them singer Patti Page, astronaut Stuart Roosa and philanthropist Helen Walton, the wife of Wal-Mart founder - Sam Walton.
