Smithtown is situated in Long Island and has a large area of 111.4 square miles and about 118.000 residents The city of Smithtown was settled in the mid 17th century. Richard Smith, the one that gave his name to the city, apparently rescued the daughter of a Native American chief and got the opportunity to ride a bull for a day and receive all the land he could encircle. He did it on the longest day of the year and the land he encircled then is now the location of Smithtown.
