Miami Car Rental

Sunny, Sultry, and Sizzling Miami, not for the faint hearted

Hot stuff

The number one item on everyone’s to do list is always the famous South Beach, an area well known for its white stretching sands, skimpy bikinis (and the models/ celebs in them), plus a long array of hot clubs and excellent dining. It’s a central spot to sit and people watch, swim and run around, eat a meal, have a drink and wander amongst other very beautiful people. Some say it’s almost like a New York on the beach…

THE road to be is Lincoln Road (right) in South Beach. This is where it all happens, from exquisite mojitos to those people who walk around with tiny dogs that look more like rodents. The restaurant and bar life here is electric and strangely enough, friendly. Small, cute shops pepper the street and if you don’t like the whole shopping/ drinking girly drinks thing, you can always just watch the small swim suits that wander past you.

If you’re wandering around and looking for a sweet distraction, Miami has excellent gelati in the southern areas. Gelati parlours are almost busier than the cafes and restaurants! But if you’re closer to North Beach, the street for afternoon strolls and emptying your bank account is Collins Avenue, more specifically the Bal Harbour Shops at 9700 Collins Avenue.

Things to do

If sightseeing actual places, landmarks and historic items is more of interest than your fellow coffee drinker’s Jimmy Choos, The Wolfsonian- Florida International University will be more your scene. The specialty museum/ gallery is jam packed with thousands of modern artifacts ranging from political propaganda posters in the 1930’s to books, paintings and sculptures that teach about social, political and industrial development on a national and global scale. Exhibitions are constantly changing, plus tours and workshops are frequent.

While you’re on the art mission, it’s worth a visit to check out the Bass Museum of Art, definitely the best gallery in the area. Exhibitions are changing all the time, and prominent artists are shown, both modern and classical.

For a view of the greatest amount of Art Deco architecture in one place, the Art Deco Historical District is the obvious place to go. Over 800 restored buildings (left) line the streets of one square mile, with walking tours that discover the history behind the style and the refurbishments. While you're nearby, you’ll need to drive down Ocean Drive, which is the road traveling along the Miami shoreline.

Don’t be fooled, this isn’t your ordinary beach drive. Some say this drive is the most popular street in the city, fighting for the title with the above Lincoln Road. It has café culture, a fantastic restaurant life, shopping, the necessary beautiful people with their skimpy clothing, as well as gorgeous beach views. It’s up to you to figure out which road you like better…

While you're trying to figure that out, you'll need to test taste each place and the areas surrounding. Rent a cheap rental car to get from A to B and to counter balance all the money you're going to spend on those Jimmy Choos! We have some great deals and fantastic prices, using only the best suppliers.

If you need a little more to discover the fire behind Miami's caliente culture, check out the Lonely Planet's online Miami guide. It'll give you a bit more to work with, especially if you have your mind on something specific.
