1. See Gungywamp - This archaeological site in Groton dates from perhaps 2000 B.C. It features Native American and colonial artifacts such as a stone circle and stone room known as the “calendar chamber” where the rooms are unusually lit during equinoxes.

2.Go shell fishing at Bluff Point State Park - Enjoy more than 800 acres of largely undeveloped land by hiking or biking on area trails. Visitors can also go saltwater fishing or shell fishing at the park, however, you must obtain a permit for shell fishing.

3. Check out Project Oceanology - Located at the University of Connecticut's Avery Point Campus, this marine science center allows visitors to learn about marine life, see oceanographic vessels and equipment as well as visit the floating marine science classroom.

4.Visit the site of the Battle of Groton Heights - A monument is set on the site of this American Revolution battlefield.

5. Visit the Mystic community - Located on the Mystic River, this area of Groton is full of historic places as well as the largest maritime museum in the world.
