Hay River is a small, yet very charming community located in Northwest Territories, and it is also known as the Hub of the North. It is located on the south shore of the Great Slave Lake, at the mouth of Hay River.
The town is separated into two sections, but it has a total population of 3648 residents, according to the 2006 census. The area of Hay River goes as far back as 7000 BC, and it has been in use by the First Nations, known as the Long Spear People. The first settlers who arrived in the area were actually the Native Indians that started to build log cabins and bring dairy cows.
