Gonzales is a city located in Louisiana, United States. The lovely city is part of Ascension Parish, having a population of about 8.100 residents on an area of 8.4 square miles (21.8 square kilometers). Gonzales was settled in 1851, while the first Post Office in the area opened in 1887. Gonzales was officially incorporated as a village in 1922, becoming a city only in 1977. Nowadays, Gonzales is a very well known location in the whole country for the popular Jambalaya Festival, event which has also brought Gonzales the name of the "jambalaya capital of the world."
