Greenbelt Historic District is a historic area of Greenbelt. The district is part of the history of the plan of starting a new city with a clean slate in 1937 in order to solve all urbanism related problems and to build the ideal suburb. In this area of town you will see the first buildings raised inside the city limits. The Greenbelt History District was listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1997 and no changes are allowed to be done to the buildings, excepting restoration.

Greenbelt Arts Center is a theater located in Greenbelt. The seating is available only for 90 people, but the theater has a constant program all through the year. Important productions include Children of Eden, Daughters, Hamlet and Witness for Prosecution.

Goddard Space Flight Center is an important NASA research laboratory located in Greenbelt since 1959. The center bears the name of Dr. Robert H. Goddard, a pioneer in the domain of rocket propulsion in the country. This is also NASA's first space center.
