Greenfield is located in Franklin County, Massachusetts, United States of America. With a population of 17.500 residents and an area of 22 square miles, Greenfield is also the county seat of Franklin County. The area of the city was originally inhabited by the Pocumtuck Indians since 9000 BC, but the Mohawks forced them to leave in 1664. In 1686 the area was colonized by the English and in 1753 Greenfield was incorporated as a town and named in honor of the Green River. Notable residents of Greenfield include jurist Charles Allen, comic Christopher Baldwin, architect Asher Benjamin, actress Misha Collins, poet Frederick Goddard Tuckerman, musician Scott Crago and bishop Bennett Jones Sims. Poet's Seat Tower
is a sandstone observation tower erected in 1912, which received this name because most local poets were attracted to this spot. Especially drawn here was Frederick Goddard Tuckerman, who was the one that named the place like this, eventually.

Guiding Star Grange
was the first grange in the state of Massachusetts, established in 1873. The grange has a large community and a growing membership. The place is also used as a venue for traditional music nights and social dance nights held in Greenfield.

Leavitt-Hovey House
is a historic building located in Greenfield and designed by local architect Asher Benjamin in 1797 for judge Jonathan Levitt, a graduate of the Yale College. In 1983, the house was listed on the National Historic Register. The house is home to the Greenfield Public Library since 1909.

Greenfield Center School
was opened in 1980 and works as an independent day school. The school uses the responsive classroom educational method which claims that every child develops differently and children's creative endeavors should be pursued. Before hosting this institution, the building was used by the Greenfield Abercrombie Elementary School.
