Fun Fact: Before it became Haines City, it used to be called Clay Cut. The original settlers convinced a railroad company to build a station in the area and the company would only give in to their wishes under one condition: that the Clay Cut citizens would agree to name their city after a Colonel Henry Haines, a senior railroad official.
