Indiana is borough located in Pennsylvania, United States. In fact, Indiana is the county seat of Indiana County, and also one of the most developed areas in the whole state. With a population of about 14.800 residents, Indiana has a surface of 1.8 square miles (4.7 square kilometers). Indiana was settled in 1805, but it was only incorporated in 1816. The borough is also known under the name of the "Christmas Tree Capital of the World." Indiana is also famous for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, which first opened in 1875.
Downtown Indiana Historic District is one of the most beautiful and important places that can be visited in this area of the United States. The many notable buildings located here include William Houston House, which dates back to 1805, Thomas Sutton House, but also The First United Presbyterian Church, the Zion Lutheran Church and the First Methodist Episcopal Church. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
Old Indiana County Courthouse is one of the historic buildings of the borough. The building of the courthouse actually dates back to 1869. Its construction has ended in 1870, this being the second courthouse of the county. Anyway, this building is great to visit, as it will manage to shock with its architecture, done in the Second Empire Italian style.
