Kailua-Kona is a city of 12 thousand residents on the Island of Hawai'i. Often simply called “Kona”, this city shouldn't be confused with Kailua on the island of O'ahu! Kona is known as the source of a variety of coffee arabica, also named “Kona”, which is grown on the nearby slopes of Mauna Loa and Mount Hualalai.

Here is some more useful information about Kailua-Kona!

Kona Did You Know… That Kailua-Kona was the human settlement that was closest to the 2006 Hawaii Earthquake's epicenter?

Once you've picked up your affordable car rental, why not take it for a spin around this gorgeous Hawaiian paradise? Ali?i Drive is the local street downtown that starts at Kailua Pier. It's also a Hawaii Scenic Byway and locals call it "Royal Footsteps Along the Kona Coast". Doesn't that sound beautiful? Kailua Pier is also the starting and finishing point for the Ironman World Championship Triathlon every October.

Take your car rental around town to see some of the amazing and historic homes and worship centers, too! The Kamakahonu royal residence, Hulihe?e Palace (dating back to the early 1900s), Mokuaikaua Church (the first Christian church in Hawaii), and Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church are all incredible sights to see. Or take your car rental down and park it at the shore, and go for some snorkeling – or just tanning and people-watching -- at La?aloa Bay or Kahalu?u Bay!
