New Bern is a wonderful city located in North Carolina, United States. The county seat of Craven County, New Bern has an area of 27.0 square miles (69.9 square kilometers) and a population of over 29,500 inhabitants, as the 2010 census indicated. New Bern is situated at the confluence of Trent and Neuse rivers, which manage to offer some lovely views to the city. New Bern was first settled as an Indian town under the name of Chattoka. However, the city was founded under its current name in 1710, actually being named after the capital of Switzerland, Bern.
