Richland is a city located in Benton County, Washington, United States of America. Richland is situated along the Columbia and Yakima Rivers. The city has a population of approximately 50.000 people and an area of 42 square miles. Richland is located close to Pasco and Kennewick. The first settler in the area of Richland was captain William Clark, on October 17, 1805. Until then, this was the home of Wanapum, Yakama and Walla Walla Indians that lived close to the Yakima River. The town was named in 1905 in honor of land developer Nelson Rich. Richland City was incorporated on April 28, 1910.
