San Juan is the biggest city in, and the capital of, Puerto Rico, an island territory of the United States that was ceded to the U.S. in 1898 as a result of the Spanish-American War. Founded in 1521, it is the 2nd oldest city settled by Europeans in the Americas. San Juan's official formal name, Municipio de la Ciudad Capital San Juan Bautista, means “Municipality of the Capital City, Saint John the Baptist”.

San Juan is an important seaport in the region and has a population of about 400 thousand residents, making it one of the 50 largest cities in the USA. Combined, over 2 million people live in this city, its suburbs, and unincorporated lands around it, which equals about 1/2 of all Puerto Ricans.

Old San Juan is the historic colonial neighborhood of San Juan. It's located on a small island, united with the city by 3 bridges. The old streets of this area are narrow and charming, and the architecture has a powerful Spanish influence. Old San Juan is filled with shops, restaurants and cafeterias. All you need is time to enjoy each and every one of them.

Ocean Park is a beach area of San Juan. This beachfront community sits in a secluded area of the city and has about 2 thousand residents. It is popular as a location to kitesurf and windsurf, as well as to go sunbathing and swimming. Along this beach, there are plenty of lovely cafes and bars to visit.

Ocean Park Beach is between the Condado and Isla Verde districts.  The area is visited by locals and American tourists frequently and is considered to be an upscale, yet lively place.  Windsurfing is a popular activity at Ocean Park, in addition to swimming and other sports.

La Fortaleza is a historical building raised in San Juan between 1533 and 1540. Also called Palacio de Santa Catalina, it's the oldest mansion in the New World. Because of this, it's an important part of the UNESCO heritage.

Marmalade Restaurant and Wine Bar offers eclectic cuisine and a great wine bar. The Marmalade is perfect for a romantic night out, or for a festive dinner. It's located in the heart of Old San Juan and offers customers a unique view of this amazing city.

El Yunque Rainforest is a 28,000 square-foot collection of over 240 species of trees, plants and flowers.  A walking tour will lead to great swimming and perhaps a view of the rare coqui frog—whose song can be heard throughout the forest.
