Steger is a little village located in Cook County, Illinois, United States of America, close to the border with Indiana. Steger has an area of approximately 4 square miles and a population of 10.000 residents. The village of Steger was established in 1893 when John Valentine Steger opened a piano factory in the area. In 1896, there were 324 residents and the village was incorporated. To make sure the name of the locality remains Steger, John Valentine Steger paid to every local 400 dollars. The factory functioned in the village until 1924 and until then, Steger was considered the "piano capital of the world".
