Sykesville is a little charming town located in Carroll County, Maryland, United States of America. Sykesville has an area of 1.6 square miles and a number of 4000 residents. The area which is now Sykesville was owned by William Patterson, a rich businessman. His daughter married the brother of Napoleon Bonaparte, Jerome, but Napoleon refused to acknowledge the marriage and did not let Betsy Patterson Bonaparte to enter France. She returned to the United States and raised her son here as a single mother. Her brother - George Patterson, sold a part of his estate. The town of Sykesville was incorporated in 1904. Notable residents include autism researcher Leo Kanner and author Nan Agle.
