The Murrell Home is the only ante-bellum home that still stands in the whole state of Oklahoma. It is also called Hunter's Home. it was built by George Murrell, a Virginian who married a Cherokee girl from the area of Tahlequah. The house is a reminder of the healthy lifestyle that some people of the Cherokee Nation had before the Civil War. Inside it, there are still original artifacts and items of furniture.

The Thompson House
 was raised in Tahlequah in 1882 in a Queen Anne Carpenter Gothic style with refined woodwork interiors. This was the home of a famous Cherokke physician that lived in Tahlequah - Joseph Thompson. His family lived in the house until the early 20th century. In our time, this is an important attraction of Tahlequah and can be visited through wonderful guided tours in which the beautiful original decorations and furniture can be admired.
