Paying with a Debit Card

Debit Card Option USA

To clarify if debit card is accepted for your rental - and the conditions of use, make sure  to contact our Customer Care Team or email your booking number at help@VroomVroomVroom.com.

When renting a car in the USA, some of our suppliers may accept debit card but it may not be in all locations. Debit cards bearing the Visa, Mastercard or Discover logo are accepted as a valid form of payment at time of rental.

Payment by debit card may require a bond to be paid at the start of the rental and refunded on return. The bond can be up to $500 on top of the estimated rental charges depending on the supplier and location. Please see our our Terms and Conditions to learn more.

Note that when a security bond is taken, the supplier will freeze this amount on your card making it unavailable for your use. When the rental is over, suppliers will process the refund, but it could take up to two weeks, depending on your bank's policies. There are instances where suppliers will perform credit check for debit card renters.

Are you renting from an airport location?

Some airport locations allow a debit card with proof of a round trip travel ticket while non-airport locations will sometimes allow customers to use debit cards with a recent utility bill.

Important:
Please be advised when using a debit card, special conditions may apply, so make sure to check all the payment conditions. In some cases, debit cards may not be accepted for certain kinds of vehicles, or at particular locations. For example, Thrifty does not allow payment with debit cards in the New York metropolitan area, or at depots in Boston.
