When you arrive at the depot to collect your RV in the United States, there is some important information you should be aware of. For example, there are certain identification documents you will need to bring with you.  You will also have to ensure you can cover the security deposit for the vehicle. Required Documents

Policies vary per supplier, but generally, to pick up an RV in the United States the lead driver will need to present their driver's license and a valid credit card in their name.

Note that debit cards are mostly not accepted at United States locations. Cash is also not a valid form of payment.

Do I need to purchase additional insurance for my RV?

Vehicle insurance is mandatory in the United States, so it is generally included in the rental rate. Some suppliers may provide additional coverage relating to Supplemental Liability Insurance or cover the costs for damage.

Other things to know about picking up a motorhome

Before you go to the depot to pick up your RV, make sure you have planned your route so you arrive at the specified time. Here are some important things to know about the pick-up process:

  • Allow plenty of time to go through the paperwork at the depot. Staff will also take you through some important information about your vehicle. Some depots give you the option to check in online to save time.
  • Shuttle services are offered to some depots from major airports. In some cases, you will need to arrange your own transport to the rental depot.
  • Ask staff if you would like information about local fuel stations or waste treatment centers.

Make sure you have all your required documents with you, and do your research beforehand so you know what forms of payment will be accepted. Allow plenty of time to pick up the RV, as the staff will take you through all the paperwork.
