Budget Terms & Conditions - Canada

The below T&Cs (including prices and taxes) are provided by Budget and may change without notice to VroomVroomVroom.ca. Rates below are in CAD.

This quote includes:

all taxes, airport taxes and surcharges if applicable,
Stated free kilometers amount (generally unlimited, see below for extra kilometer charges)
Vehicle Registration fee,
One way fees if applicable,
All vehicle fees related to the booking e.g. Vehicle drop fees, all recovery fees, premium location fees, corporate location fees wherever applicable.

This quote will not include:

Fuel
Insurance (See next paragraph*)
Child seats or booster seats (can be purchased after confirmation for generally range from $7 - $15 per day (can vary per location - see below)
Extra miles (if your rental has limited mileage, each additional mile over the limit will be charged at (from) $0.18 up to $0.50per km).
The age surcharge, if between the ages of 21 and 25 range from $29.95 -$35 per day plus local taxes and surcharges
Additional Drivers must meet the same age requirements as the primary driver - Around $10-$20 per day.
Any extras signed up for upon arrival, e.g. vehicle snow equipment, GPS.
All extras and additional services will attract additional local percentage taxes and surcharges. Prices below are exclusive of these as they vary state to state.

* Important information about car rental insurance

For US citizens
Some US credit cards and personal car insurance policies do provide car rental insurance so please check with your credit card provider and personal auto insurance policy for details.

Visiting the US from another country
It is illegal to drive in the US without car insurance. Your travel insurance probably only covers the excess so check the fine print in your travel insurance policy.

Driver's License and Identification

At time of pickup, all drivers must present a valid driver's license in their name.
If the country of residence on the renter's credentials do not match the country indicated on the reservation, the rental rate will change.
All drivers must have a safe driving record or Budget reserves the right to deny the rental.
Non-U.S. and non-Canadian residents are required to present a valid driver's license and a passport from their home country.
If you have indicated on your reservation that you are a non-U.S. resident, you must also present proof of your return trip back to your resident country or your confirmed reservation rate will change.
International renters require full open driver's license in English or French or International Driver's license
Most locations require 2 pieces of Government issued identification from the renter including driver's license. At least one piece of identification must have a picture of the renter.
International renters must have a valid driver's license and a major credit card.

Age Requirement

Drivers should be at least 25 years old to rent without extra fees.
Renters 21-24 must present a valid, acceptable credit card (debit cards are not permitted) and a valid driver's license (subject to screening of your driving record), both in the renter's name.
Renters who are between 21-24 will incur an Underage Surcharge of range from around $29.95 - $35 per day, which may be subjected to tax and surcharges. They may only rent an economy, compact, intermediate, standard, full-size vehicle groups.
Drivers between the ages of 21-24 will not be permitted to rent luxury cars, mini vans, 12-passenger vans, specialty vehicles, full-size SUVs or premium SUVs.

Payment Policy - Credit Cards / Debit Cards

Location rental qualification rules apply. The name on all rental credentials (e.g. license and hold card) must match the name on the reservation.

At the time of rental, drivers must present a major credit card and valid full driver's license. Both must be in the driver's name. Most locations don't accept debit cards.

At the time of rental, Budget requires a credit card hold of total estimated charges plus total estimated rental amount plus 20% or $350 CAD, whichever is greater. You may not use a prepaid debit or gift card for the required hold and only a debit card, credit card or cash may be used for payment of rental charges upon car return.

Your total rental rate is calculated based on the information provided at time of reservation. The rate is based on the exact parameters (location, dates, etc.) of your particular rental so changing any of your confirmed reservation parameters could result in a different rate.

Where debit cards are accepted: Upon paying your rental with a Debit Card, Budget will generally request an authorization hold against your account for the estimated charges of the rental but reserves the right in its sole discretion, to request extra value based on certain factors as we deem appropriate. Some exceptions may apply. THESE FUNDS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE. When the rental is over we will process the reversal but the bank may take time to post it back to the account. While this hold is in place, the funds will not be available for your use. However, most locations don't accept debit cards. Additional Drivers

All additional drivers must be at least 25 years of age. The fee for each additional driver is around $10 - $20 per day depending on the location.

The following are exempt from the fee but must meet all other driver requirements: the renter's spouse or domestic partner; the companion driver of a renter with a disability who has completed the non-licensed renter form.

Driving Restrictions - where you can and cannot drive

Canada: Unlimited kilometers are only available for travel within British Columbia. Travel to, or within any other province is strictly prohibited.
Customers driving within other provinces will be charged $0.50 CAD per km, for every km driven, during the entire rental.

Mexico: Not Permitted
Alaska: Not Permitted
Canadian customs and excise regulations prohibit Canadian residents from driving U.S. rental vehicles in Canada and returning to the U.S.

Budget Coverage Options

Damage responsibility full value if LDW is declined. If accepted, (starts from $25.95 per day + taxes) $300.00 CAD for car groups A, B, C, D, E & S; $500.00 CAD for car groups G, H, V, XB, XF and XG; $1,000.00 CAD for car groups F, K, L, W, X, Z and all other X-class; $2,500.00 CAD for car group P and XP. SLI: All car groups: 4.99 CAD per day.

GPS

Budget holds your request with your reservation but cannot guarantee availability until rental pickup.

Baby, Child and Booster Seats

These can be requested by emailing info@vroomvroomvroom.com or easier still - reply to your confirmation email. Please advise the age of your baby or child. Currently costs are around $7.00 per day and may be subjected to local tax and surcharges.

Whether you're driving across the country or just taking a spin around the block, Budget encourages all passengers to buckle up for safety! Please remember, it's the driver's responsibility to comply with all applicable seat belt and child restraint safety laws.

Which seat is right for you?

Budget uses convertible child safety seats that serve as an infant (5-20 pounds) restraint in a rear-facing configuration or as a toddler (20-40 pounds) restraint in a forward-facing configuration. Many Budget locations also offer booster seats for youngsters 40-80 pounds. Seats can vary in model and style, so please contact the rental location in advance if you have specific questions.

Availability?

At corporate-owned locations, if your reservation is made 48 hours prior to pick up, we guarantee availability of a child safety seat. Within 48 hours of pick up or for licensee-owned locations, your request will be held with your reservation, but the rental is made on a first-come, first-served basis so availability is not guaranteed.

Installation?

Due to liability issues, Budget personnel are not permitted to install child safety seats into vehicles for customers. However, upon request, Budget will provide written instructions on proper installation. Other questions regarding installation should be addressed directly with the rental location.

Ski Racks - $10 per day

For your convenience, ski racks are available at this location for an additional fee. Budget holds your request with your reservation but cannot guarantee availability until rental pickup. Ski racks are only available for SUV and mini van rentals and while we make every effort to honor your ski rack request, we cannot guarantee its availability at the time of rental.

Loss Damage Waiver - from $ 25.95 per day

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is not insurance it's an option that relieves you of financial responsibility if your rental vehicle is damaged or stolen during your rental. Even if you think you are already covered under your personal policy, purchasing LDW has a multitude of benefits. It eliminates the hassle of dealing with your own insurance company claim process, stops any out-of-pocket expenses you may incur from the deductible on your personal policy and avoids the risk of your premium increasing. Next time you rent a car, be sure you're prepared for life's unexpected turns. This optional coverage offers you big peace of mind for a small investment.

Personal Effects Insurance (PEI) $2 per day

Personal Effects Insurance (PEI) offers added coverage for the bags and belongings in your Budget car, as well as those of any immediate family members traveling with you. There's no substitute for proper coverage. Next time you rent a car, be sure you're prepared for life's unexpected turns. This optional coverage offers you big peace of mind for a small investment.
