Bardstown is an amazing city in the state of Kentucky, being the county seat of Nelson County at the same time. The name of Bardstown comes from the Bard brothers, David and William. The former obtained the land from the then governor of Virginia, while the latter was the one who organized the town. The establishment took place in 1780, and Bardstown was incorporated 10 years later.
However, Bardstown was settled in the 1770s, by European Americans, so the city is one of the oldest ones in Kentucky. Since then, Bardstown developed hugely, and now there are 11.700 residents living here. Bardstown was one of the first centers of Catholicism in the United States. A particularly interesting fact about Bardstown is that it is nicknamed 'The Bourbon Capital of the World'. Nevertheless, Bardstown offers a wide range of cultural and leisure options, for visitors to enjoy.
