Pleasanton is a warm city located in Alameda County, California, United States of America. Pleasanton has a population of more than 70.000 people and an area of almost 25 square miles. Before Pleasanton was settled, on the area where the city is today was an early establishment called Alisal. Alisal was known as "The Desperate City" because it was a refuge of bandits. Pleasanton is located near Rancho Valle de San Jose. It was settled by John W. Kottinger, who named the city in honor of his friend Alfred Pleasonton. The city should have been called Pleasonton, but the U.S. Postal Service made an error in the spelling and it was left like this.

Kolln Hardware is an iconic building of Pleasanton, located on 600 Main Street. The house was raised in 1890 in a Commercial Italianate style and was always the home of a hardware store, until Comerica Bank purchased the space.

First Wednesday is a regular event of Pleasanton. Each first Wednesday from May until September, main street is closed to serve as a host to a local carnival party. Each event has a different theme and is celebrated with live music concerts, cookouts and beer and wine stands. The first theme ever used for this regular celebration of Pleasanton was Cinco de Mayo, because May is the first month in which the event is held.
