The Big House is College Football's Record-smashing Big Thing to See

When the Michigan Wolverines play football games at their home stadium, they can always count on having the advantage of a Big Crowd of screaming fans to support them!

Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, a.k.a. “The Big House”, has hosted crowds of over 100 thousand college football fans for every University of Michigan home contest since November 8, 1975, an astonishing Big Streak of over 200 games!

The Biggest Stadium in the USA boasts an official capacity of 109,901. The “1” is reserved for former head football coach and athletic director, the late Herbert “Fritz” Crisler, whose legendary 1947 Michigan team went undefeated (10-0) and recorded 5 shutouts, including a 49-0 defeat of the USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl. The team was voted National Champions by an Associated Press Poll after the game, and Crisler went out on top, retiring as coach and continuing as the university's Athletic Director.

Crisler, it is worth mentioning, introduced an idea that season of using 2 separate, dedicated squads of players for offense and defense. His successful Big Experiment would change the game of American football forever!

On September 7, 2013, The Big House broke its own attendance record when 115,109 attended a game against Notre Dame, a 41-30 victory for the Wolverines!

Michigan Stadium was also the site of the World's Largest Crowd to watch an ice hockey game. On December 11, 2010, the university promoted “The Big Chill at the Big House”, and Michigan defeated Michigan State 5-0. The announced attendance was 113,411, although Guiness World Records certified it as 104,173, counting tickets scanned (people in attendance) rather than all tickets sold.

The Biggest Stadium in America is easy to get to, except on game day of course. Just drive your rental car to the intersection of South Main Street and East Stadium Boulevard in Ann Arbor. The stadium is located at 1201 South Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. But don't just drive by this Big College Football Mecca – do yourself a favor and attend a game! It's an unbelievable experience!
