Danville is a small city in the state of Illinois, with a population of 32.467 according to the 2010 census. Danville is the 14th most populous city in Illinois, outside of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The history of Danville goes back to 1827, when the city was founded. In the winter season, ice fishing and cross country skiing are popular pastimes for visitors to the park. Visitors to the parks may rent a canoe or kayak to paddle down the Vermilion River, which runs through the center Kickapoo State Park.

Vermilion County War Museum occupies almost 14.000 square feet and it displays memorabilia and artifacts from the Revolutionary War to Operation Iraqi Freedom. There are constantly new display materials and artifacts ariving. Tourists will be amazed at the large number of exhibits and at the same time, they will be able to learn new things about the history, culture and civilisation of Danville.

Kennekuk County Park is set on 3000 acres and very close to the Middle Fork National Scenic River. There are plenty of recreational opportunities here, including Lake Mingo, a 170-acre lake with boat docks, camping, hiking trails, fishing, softball fields and hunting.One unique feature is the Bunker Hill Historic Area that offers a collection of history buildings that are both native to the site and others that have been saved from demolition and relocated to the park.
