Michigan Challenge Balloonfest is an annual event held each year in the last weekend of June in Howell. This is a hot air balloon festival that draws tourists from all over the state. Usually, over 100.000 people come to Howell in the weekend when the event is held. Carnivals, outdoor plays, live concerts, karate demonstrations, dancing contests, hand painting and many more activities attract people at this event. The balloon nigh glow is the final moment of the festival, when all pilots stand next to their balloons, the balloons are inflated and their torches are lighted for everyone to admire.

Howell Melon Festival is held each year in August and is celebrating a cantaloupe hybrid that can only grow in this region of Michigan. The festival was held each year since 1960 and it was a hit from the first time. If you want to see a large melon parade and to witness an ice cream eating contest, do not miss this festival.

Howell Opera House is one historic building located downtown Howell since 1881. The building was restored in 2007 and is considered a very important landmark.

Howell Carnegie District Library exists since 1875, although at first, it was opened in a rented house. Only in 1906 the library received her own building and in the past years, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the library in the new building. If you are an avid reader, this is a must see.
