The Lost Sea is the huge underground lake located in Sweetwater. It was discovered in 1905 by a boy named Ben Sands who was 13 at that time. He was playing in a cave and crawled to another room. He could not see its end, so, he threw mud around only to hear splashes of water. He told the locals about his discovery, but they did not believe him. When they finally came to check, the water level was too high. The lake was rediscovered years later. It has 4.5 acres and and fills completely with water several rooms of the caves.
