Bayamon is a town in Puerto Rico located on the northern coastal valley of the State of Puerto Rico. According to the 2010 census, Bayamon reached a number of 208.116 residents. Bayamon is the second largest city in Puerto Rico and it is situated in the metropolitan area of the island. The history of Bayamon goes back to 1772, when it was first established by Native Indians. The main industries of Bayamon are agriculture and businesses, such as commercial offices, hospital and commercial centers. In Bayamon, you will easily find accommodation in affordable places such as hotels, motels, beach houses and inns. The venues here are also diverse: restaurants, pubs, bars, takeaways and coffee shops.
Luis a Ferré Parque de Ciencias is an expansive science park covering almost 16 hectares, and it is known for its slightly scientific and educational edge. The Aerospace Museum has a wide collection of NASA rockets and aviation gear is the real highlight of the park. Other facilities here include an art gallery, a planetarium and museums concentrating on themes such as transportation, electrical energy or physics. There is even a zoo, with very friendly animals, whom the children can pet and feed. There is also the possibility of renting a bicycle or a pedalo and take a trip around the artificial lake.
Camarero Racetrack is located just 20 minutes away from Bayamon and it is the only racing facility in Puerto Rico. The races that are held all year long attract high rated jockeys and racers, displaying an excellent show. Races are held almost every day. The facilities are very good, with a restaurant offering fine dining, as well as an on-site pub.
Central Park is located just across the City Hall, and it is an urban oasis offering tranquility in the center of the city. There are many pathways and benches, which are shaded by exotic trees. The park is very well known for its beautiful landscape and country house, which remain well preserved and add to the character of the surrounding areas.
