Fun Fact: Delray Beach was originally called Linton and in its early years, the settlers began to progress in farming. The town took a huge blow in 1898 when a hard freeze occurred and ruined harvest which resulted in many settlers, William Linton included, leaving the area in search of better pastures. Trying to change the community’s luck, Linton was renamed “Delray” which, in Spanish, means “of the king”.
