Named for Elbert H. Gary, chairman of the United States Steel Corporation, Gary Indiana was founded as a location for the corporation's newest steel plant. The area is still known for steel manufacturing and has many interesting places to visit. Here are a few.
1.Try your luck at the Majestic Star Casino and Hotel- This elegant floating casino offers a variety of gambling media including game tables, video poker games and slot machines. Attached to the casino is the Majestic Star Hotel which offers high class accommodations perfect for a weekend getaway.

5. Visit the Bathing Beach Aquatorium- This historic building erected in 1921 is being renovated for use as a museum in honor of aviation pioneer Octave Chanute.
