The Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama is the oldest running play in Virginia. The story is set in the area where Big Stone Gap is located and depicts the drama lived by the people that discovered coal for the first time in the Appalachian Mountains and the dramatic changes of their lives after the discovery.
